Toronto Fine Jewellery, a distinguished player in the Retail Fashion industry, approached us with a vision to elevate their online presence. Their goal was to transform their existing Shopify-based website into a premium e-commerce platform. The client sought not only aesthetic enhancements but also the integration of custom features such as a unique ring builder, virtual try-on, and virtual appointment scheduling.
Challenge
Toronto Fine Jewellery faced the challenge of needing a more refined and premium online platform that aligned with their commitment to delivering quality jewelry at competitive prices. The specific requirements included upgrading the visual appeal and incorporating innovative features to enhance the user experience.
Our Approach
To address the client's requirements, we proposed a comprehensive solution leveraging Shopify's custom frontend solutions. Our design team conceptualized a minimalistic and premium look for the website, using the "Jost" font and a carefully selected color palette to complement and highlight the jewelry.
The development phase involved translating the approved design into a fully responsive e-commerce website using Next JS and integrating it with Shopify's Storefront API. Standard e-commerce features such as product catalogs, product details page, and the Cart and Checkout process were seamlessly implemented.
Next, we added the two requested custom features:
Custom Ring Builder
We designed a step-by-step process allowing users to create their own custom rings. Users could select the base of the ring, customize the metal, size, and weight, choose gemstones from a curated catalog, and review their selections before checking out.
Virtual Try-On
For the virtual try-on feature, we created 3D models for the rings. Users could click 'Try this ring' and, after capturing a picture of their hand, visualize the selected ring on their finger. The 3D model was customizable, allowing users to move and resize the ring for a personalized experience.
